FAQs for Sellers
Are you a licensed car dealer?
No. If I was, I'd have all of the expenses of a licensed car dealer and charge the same kind of profit margins that they expect and need to stay in business. I'll pass those savings on to you, thanks! According to the
agency that monitors dealers, my services do not require an auto dealer's license. My business is, however, licensed with the State of Washington.
Why are you qualified to help me?
After many years in the dealership environment, including management positions, I have the knowledge to help you reach your goals.
How do I know that your pricing information is accurate for my car?
I do not publish pricing information. We will analyze your car and refer to the same current pricing resources that a car dealer would use. However, with that said... The best recommendation I can give is to get an
appraisal on your vehicle AFTER getting an unbiased, third party mechanical inspection and a thorough detail. Those are the elements that will build value!
Is the wording in an ad really that important?
My experience tells me that it takes more than cleaning your car and posting a few of the options on the car in an ad. Stories sell and the wording is crucial. My years of experience in selling cars all over the
country have proven that to me.
Does FSBO Auto Advisor™ post the ads or do I?
FSBO Auto Advisor™ posts ads for your car on multiple websites to give you more exposure than if you just place a single ad on a local site. Once those ads are posted, all you have to do is make sure that they
stay renewed if your vehicle hasn't sold. The FSBO Auto Advisor™ program is designed to get attention from buyers for your vehicle. It is not unusual for a buyer for a vehicle to come from out of state if marketed effectively.
Our goal is to provide enough exposure to find the right buyer no matter where they are. All you have to do is answer the phone and respond to emails. Once a buyer does respond, FSBO Auto Advisor™ is available to guide you
through the process of establishing rapport and building additional value through effective negotiations.
Can I just give you pictures of my vehicle that I have taken myself?
You could, but the photo documentation is included in my fee.
Do I have to include the maintenance records of my car?
It will certainly help a buyer to make a confident buying decision and along with a pre purchase mechanical inspection that tells the buyer exactly what is right with your car, they are half of the way to handing you
money. Let's face it, a potential buyer already knows what year, make, model and color your car is. They are only looking at the car to determine condition.
Why not wait and let the prospective buyer pay for a pre-purchase inspection?
For the few dollars you invest in a mechanical inspection, it will allow a buyer to make a decision on the spot as opposed to making the arrangements and taking your car for hours to a mechanic that you don't know.
Is it safe to let a buyer drive my car alone?
If you check the buyers identification and insurance information it is a normally accepted practice, but in the end, it is solely at your discretion. If the buyer doesn't mind, you should always try to go with them. It
is best to check with your insurance company to get their input on how any potential problems might be handled, should they arise. You can even ask for a deposit.
Why not just trade my car in to a dealer?
You can, but it would defeat the whole reason you are reading this right now! You will gain more money in the sale of your private party vehicle than if you trade it in!
Will you guide me through the entire process?
Yes, if that is what you would like. Each vehicle and seller is different and so the time and effort on my part will be different. At the time we decide to do business, we will have a better idea of what you need and
what will be expected of me.
What do I have to do to get started?
To get started, simple give me a call or drop me an E-mail and I will get back to your rightaway!
